G/B

Good and bad week musically, and personally.

Good - Learnt all the La Roux songs.

Bad - Had a super rubbish Brontide show and it's my last for some time. Brontide is my band with 2 of my best friends in the world in.

Good - Finding out my first day starts with GMTV

Bad - Not yet knowing if there is enough space on set for drums.

Good - USA visa being sorted and US/Canada tour dates being announced

Bad - The tour being the same time as a Brontide tour.

Good - Living in London and being very busy

Bad - Feeling like the only person in the world at 11.26 on a thursday night in a city you don't really know.

Good - The Radio 1 live lounge cover.

Bad - The Radio 1 live lounge cover practice resulting in me missing soundcheck for my last Rod Thomas show (another guy I drum for).

Good - That this is just the beginning..

Bad - That things are coming to an end.

So I joined LA ROUX...

Friday 12 June 2009

So it's been a hectic week. The most part of it spent down at the rehearsal room in Shepherds Bush. Yamaha gave us a sweet drum kit to use so we have been trying to get used to it (loading all the sounds in, making sure it's set up right etc) and then playing through the album songs over and over again. It's going well, and I'm on track to having them 100% by my first gig, which seems to be the Live Lounge with Jo Wiley on Radio 1.

So I'm sat on my bed in Collingham packing all my things up as I am moving down to London this Sunday. It's funny how you're life can turn around so quickly. In the space of a week my "little cottage in Nottingham" idea turned into a pretty big job and a flat in London, still not sunk in really.

So rehearsals again Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then the others go off to Barcelona without me for a festival! Well that's just fine!!
I'll happily sit in my new room...on my own....in England...not Spain at Sonar Festival...yep.

Right, back to packing! Update next week

Break Stuff

It's just one of those days.

I'm suffering from possibly the worse case of "end of tour blues" that I have ever had and it is resulting in me thinking about my life in far too much detail. I am lay here in bed, trying to sleep but wide awake, and seeing messages from all my friends in America at SXSW isn't helping either.

There is no work on for me in April and I'm panicking about that a lot. I have been off for 3 days now and am already feeling restless, I honestly don't know what I will be doing in a months time. Sometime before Christmas, I feel my job was going much better than it is now, I was letting stuff go willy-nilly because of stuff I had coming up, and also because I thought this was the volume work was going to come in forever. I've kind of realised this isn't the case the hard way, and that is by hearing the said artists on daytime radio, reading about them on all the websites, and them being all over magazines. Even though you find it frustrating, you find yourself checking their websites an awful lot to see where you would be. Technically, I should be at SXSW 4 times this year!

I'm also feeling pretty secluded as far as my personal life is too. I love my parents, I love this house, I love Collingham and I love my friends, but I also feel like I am missing out on a lot of what a 21 year old should be doing/learning by being in a small village for the majority of the time - but alas, the work is not coming in frequently enough to be completely independant yet, some months yes, others, hell no. I missed the whole university thing, and obviously I wouldn't change the reason for that for the world, but I do still wish I had had those few years of learning.

I'm not even going to get started on the relationship front.

Signing off,

A pretty miserable William x

Patrik Ervell

Patrik Ervell Srping Summer 09. Amazing.

These "Common Projects" laceless Oxfords are so subtley beautiful and were sported with the Ervell SS09 show in NYC.

And although this is Fall-Winter 08, I thought I would put it up anyway. Perfection in an outfit.

Tour is going well :)

It's not ALL sex, drugs and Rock n Roll on tour

1 down, 2 to go

The snow was sweet. When it was all over the news, I was in London and the place was dead!! I left my hotel and must have seen about 3 people when I was walking down the street, it was really something.

I've just come off the Brontide tour which were 2 of the funnest weeks ever. To spend time with Timmy and Nath for that long was awesome and the shows went very well, suprisingly, people ACTUALLY turned up, 110 on a headline show being best :)

The week before the tour I had a week up in Scotland for the Celtic Connections Festival. I was staying in the ludicrisly titled "Quality Hotel" but we soon found ways to make it fun. Milk cartens out of windows etc etc.

I also played at the BBC Folk Awards. The show was great but most importantly.....

This is MF'ing Harry Shearer. You will see him name come up at the end of a few pretty good films and programs. Obviously I was most impressed about The Simpsons!!! He is Principle Skinner, Smithers, Burns and probably loads more. He is also in Spinal Tap, and Waynes World!! Party Time, Excellent!

Tomorrow I go back on tour with Jim Moray for some folking good times. Theres another few weeks before I can come out to play, but I'd just be bored if I wasnt gigging anyway.

I'll update this more

Internet shopping

It REALLY is dangerous! I spent a lot of this afternoon "mmm"ing and "aaah"ing in shoe shops for some new black trainers, yet I can order some shoes in a minute with less then 5 clicks?!

Oh dear! Still, I'll have some nice new vans for tour, though I kinda wish I'd waited, look at THESE!!!
